So I apparently queued this up on Ravelry back in the fall of 2009. Only took, you know, three years go make one! But I did, and here it is:

It only took about fifteen minutes to make. I used some leftover Berroco Weekend and a G hook. Had to tweak it just a bit because the directions for attaching the eyes is, well, lacking in clarification. So my stitch count working around the eye sockets was off. But I crochet a lot so it was easy to adjust.
This is a gift being sent off to someone special in the very near future!
I made it to the podium twice more since my last update. The first was a whim project, another Calorimetry. I used some old, awful Red Heart stash from what feels like forever ago. I love the color but hate the feeling of the yarn. So rough and squeaky …

My other finish was a WIP from a few months ago, Lungo. The only reason it took so long is because that much stockinette is really boring.

I have at least two other WIPs to work on, plus a few new projects I wanted to make, but I foolishly cast on for a yellow cropped cardi and can’t seem to put it down…
I have finally crossed the finish line for one of my WIPs Wrestling projects!

Blue Sky Cotton in Lemongrass, Lemonade, Bone, Tulip, Drift, Sleet, and Graphite. 8mm 24” circular knitting needle by HiyaHiya. Made for a little baby boy up in Ohio. Once its washed it’ll be in the mail!
One down, lots more to go!
Alright y’all, tomorrow is the big day. The Ravellenic Games begin! Hopefully everyone has buddied up with a team or two and has projects lined up and ready to go!
This year I have quite a few entrants into the WIPs Wrestling event. I have lots of old projects that need to get done. This is absolutely the perfect motivation to get some stuff done.
Back in September 2011 I started a Levenwick cardigan and got through most of the shoulder increases before I got tired of reverse stockinette stitch and moved on. But I want to make it to wear this fall/winter! It’s really a perfect piece for Austin winters.
This Color Bar Afghan from Happy Hooker has been in the works for a while. I’ve made all the squares and need to assemble it and weave in ends. Which takes forever.
This Chevron Baby Blanket is a free pattern from the Purl Bee, and being me, I set it aside for smaller projects. And now the baby that it’s for is a member of society. So I should finish it! And I will!
The last is something I’ve picked away at, and should be able to finish very soon! Lungo is a stockinette cowl made out of a highly textured yarn called Nanuk by Berroco. I can’t wait to finish it and wear it, like, all the time.
And then I have a few new projects that I’d like to tackle and hope to finish for the Ravellenic Games. The one I’m most excited about is Gauss by Berroco. It’s knit up in Linsey, a linen/cotton blend. It’s got some geometric shapes and a relatively simple construction. I’m in.
This one is a gift I want to make for a friend of mine … a crocheted Dalek!
My Dalek, for Team TARDIS in the Toy Toss and Synchronized Stash Busting events, as well as British Cricket and the tardisLOCK challenge.
I’ll also be designing a filet crochet tote bag for Team HCW for the Bag-n-Tote Backstroke. This one is the one I consider a stretch, seeing as I have to make up a chart and figure the whole pattern out. But using it for the Ravellenic Games will help me get started!
7 things … I’m being ambitious, as always. But I think I can get a lot done! Hopefully all the while watching LOTS of Doctor Who …
Would you just look at that face? That is the face of a man that deserves every penny the team he is signing for in this picture (so long as he stays healthy, etc., etc.). If there’s one team in the NFL that still finds the running back a key part of its offense, it’s the Bears. That comes from the team’s legacy, sure. But also from it’s attitude. Happy to have Forte in for the long haul. He’s 26 and a four year contract is perfect for his position. I’m glad he’ll be a Bear for the long haul.
Also, what is that shirt. I love him.
I remember when Marvel announced that RDJ had been cast as Iron Man for their first film featuring the titular character. And there wasn’t any kind of split in comic book fans or movie fans on the casting that I can remember. Everyone pretty much thought, “Wow, he may be the perfect person for that role.” Aside from the genius, billionaire philanthropist side of Tony Stark, Robert Downey Jr. is the living embodiment of every other part of Tony Stark.
Here is my proof:
I mean, it’s to the point that RDJ and Tony Stark are nearly synonymous. He doesn’t have to pretend to be like Tony Stark, he just is, which is absolutely brilliant.
[caption id=”” align=”aligncenter” width=”384”] RDJ? Tony Stark? Both. Yep. Both.[/caption]
And the news of The Mandarin being in Iron Man 3? Do I really have to wait a year for that? And even longer for Captain America: Winter Soldier(!!!!)?
Marvel, you are a cruel mistress. But I still love you.
Are you ready for an adorable sleepy kitty face?
Ummmmmmmmm he is the cutest.
So I’m a big fan of tasteful bathroom stall art. I mean, if I’m in a stall and there’s a cool picture drawn on the wall I’m definitely going to take a picture. Is that a little weird? Yes. But I do it anyway.
Here’s today’s gem from the ladies room at the South Lamar Alamo Drafthouse:
If I’m interpreting this correctly, the picture is an apatosaurus with flames shooting out of its feel like jetpacks. Genius.
